"Cinematic Works"
Bouncing Bullets
©2009 by Fahling Music.

"BILSKIRNIR" (2'46)

"Cinematic Works" THRILLER/SUSPENSE; amazing how effective the celesta can be in facilitating suspense in a "Exorcist" kind of way - maybe due to this very association with Celesta and horror films. Fun stuff, even if this track goes more in the direction of patriotic Hollywood.

"MÄRZ ETÜDE" (2'50)

"Cinematic Works" MODERN SCORE/ORCHESTRAL; Started as a guitar study, "MARCH ETUDE" brims with counter melodies in its orchestration. The awesome piano part effectively turned this guitar etude into an engaging duet which gets an even greater kick in the back-side from the orchestra.

"NIGHTMARE ON 15TH" (3'10)

"Cinematic Works" THRILLER/SUSPENSE; basses, celli and trombones team up on the main themes for a muscular effect covered with suspenseful upper structures in violins, violas and woodwinds - and subtle percussion. From eerily floating dreamscapes to bombastic staccato sections with a change in tempo.

"TWENTY-FIVE ACTION II" (2'20)

"Cinematic Works" MODERN SCORE/ORCHESTRAL; the title says it already: action and suspense is packed on by modern sound design, post-modern orchestration and melodic development; middle part takes it all very much in the direction of soundtracks for recent Michael Mann films.

"UPON A CROSSROAD" (3'38)

"Cinematic Works" THRILLER/SUSPENSE; this track would add plenty of ambience to the opening scene/titles for a modern thriller, featuring a grand theme in the piano over pulsating waves of a string section.

"NORDBEATS" (5'56)

"Cinematic Works" FANTASY/SCI-FI/AMBIENT; steelstring guitar flowing effortlessly around repetitive, hypnotizing piano/keyboard riffs; reminiscent of Pink Floyd/Santana/TheDoors. (also to be found in the POP MUSIC VAULT)

"POSTURE PERFECT" (3'30)

"Cinematic Works" DRAMA/HISTORIC; a heavy string arrangement delivers dramatic themes in Goldsmith/Williams/Zimmer style; taking listener through several movemnets with changes in meter, pulse and emotional impact.

"WACKA" (5'12)

"Cinematic Works" DRAMA/SCI-FI; Pointillist themes that develop into grandeur and a beat structure which at first seems very understated but steadily helps to build those great motivic lines, effectively tying all of the quirkiness together into one great track - think of a Western made by David Lynch.

"FOLIA" (4'39)

"Cinematic Works" DRAMA/DOCU; Middle-Eastern percussion leading to a captivating beat-scape enveloped by a luscious string arrangement; in the vein of RJD2 with a twist of motion picture score.

"SOFT CANDY" (3'03)

"Cinematic Works" THRILLER/DRAMA; written and produced after watching "Hard Candy" which is a weird thriller. Piano with sound design effects and orchestration.

"PIANO RAIN" (3'32)

"Cinematic Works" THRILLER/AMBIENT; sprinkles of piano lead a string section from suspense to contentment and to a beautiful duett with an orchestral flute.

"VERTOONT" (2'58)

"Cinematic Works" ACTION/FANTASY/HISTORY/; blatantly Wagnerian, throw in a bit of Hans Zimmer or Howard Shore, well, epic Hollywood scoring at least: A male choir teams up with celli and double basses for a main theme over almost ceremonial, military rhythms in the rest of the orchestra. Tom Clancy would be all happy with this in any film version of one of his novels, or think of the television series "24" for those patriotic, presidential rescue missions.
